VIOLATION: N. Fairfax Dr. and N. Taylor St.

Today's violation comes to us from, you guessed it, Pot Belly Sandwich Works in Ballston (memo to Pot Belly executives: you said I'd be paid generously if I pimped for your stores, and I haven't seen a dime).

Our friendly neighborhood parking official was nowhere to be found. As you can see clearly in the picture below, the Arlington County vehicle in question is unattended and obstructing both traffic and other parked vehicles.

Date: 8/19/2006
License Plate: 108-948L (VA)
Car Number: 6132

  • Let's face it. If you are an Arlington County parking ticket Nazi, it means you couldn't get a job in the real world. In other words, you're a pathetic loser earning a living off of working taxpayers who actually contribute something to society.

  • Perhaps Arlington County bureaucrats are exempt from the Fourteenth Amendment of the U.S. Constitution?

The Equal Protection Clause, part of the Fourteenth Amendment to the United States Constitution, provides that "no state shall… deny to any person within its jurisdiction the equal protection of the laws." The Equal Protection Clause can be seen as an attempt to secure the promise of the United States' professed commitment to the proposition that "all men are created equal."

Well there seems to be unequal parking rules in Arlington and unequal protection against parking violations.

Before the enactment of the Fourteenth Amendment, the Constitution protected individual rights only from invasion by the federal government. After the Fourteenth Amendment was enacted, the Constitution also protected rights from abridgement by state governments — henceforth they could not, among other things, deprive people of the equal protection of the laws.

  • Dear Frankie,
Parking enforcement is a very real
and necessary job. It is unfortunate that so many citizens either fail to follow county laws or forget and end up with a citation but with all our conjestion people in a hurry will and do park anywhere. Control is necessary and for those that break the rule a citation is in order.
